A Stroll Through The Old Town

A Stroll Through The Old Town

A picturesque quarter with flamboyant architecture, Lille Old Town has plenty of charm and is a Lille sight that mustn’t be missed. Running from Grand Place and Notre-Dame de la Treille Cathedral, this walk invites you to reverie. Admire the houses with their XVII century façades bedecked with baroque sculptures as you wander through the narrow, cobblestone streets. Shops, cafés, delicatessens, galleries and patisseries punctuate this stroll through the heart of the city of Lille.

Not to be missed in Lille:

  • The spectacular Grand-Place, vibrant with breweries and dominated by four women: the Goddess in the centre, commemorating the siege of Lille by the Austrians in 1792, and the three graces representing the region’s three provinces (Artois, Flanders and Hainaut)

  • La Veille Bourse, a jewel of Flemish architecture and undeniably the city’s most beautiful monument.
Not to forget La Grande Braderie de Lille flea market, which opened in September.
