Canadian National Vimy Memorial

Located at the summit of the Crest of Vimy near our hotel, this impressive memorial in honour of Canada was bequeathed to those citizens who fought and gave their lives during the First World War. The Canadian National Vimy Memorial is the most prestigious Canadian monument in Europe, and is engraved with the names of the 11,285 soldiers who gave their lives, in commemoration of the battle of 9 April 1917. Surrounded by tunnels and trenches that are open to the public, this monumental work dominates the valley of Artois.
